I. Introduction to CQUST
Founded in 1951, Chongqing University of Science and Technology (CQUST) is a multidisciplinary institution focusing on engineering, with coordinated development of science, management, economics, law, liberal arts, art and other disciplines. It boasts distinctive advantages and prominent features in such fields as oil and gas exploration and green development, low-carbon metallurgy and advanced materials.
Located in the core area of the Western (Chongqing) Science City, the university features a beautiful campus and complete facilities. It covers a total land area of approximately 1.47 million square meters, with a constructed floor area of about 720,000 square meters. The university consists of 22 schools (departments, research institutes and centers), offering 57 undergraduate programs and 15 master’s degree authorization programs. At present, it has more than 24,500 full-time students, including over 2,600 postgraduate students, and more than 1,900 faculty members, among whom over 690 hold senior professional titles and more than 850 possess doctoral degrees.
CQUST attaches great importance to international cooperation. Up to now, the university has established partnership in teaching, scientific research and talent cultivation with more than 80 universities or institutions in 32 countries or regions such as Edinburgh Napier University (UK), University of Illinois Chicago (USA), University of Regina (Canada), National Research Tomsk State University (Russia), Haaga-Helia UAS (Finland), Hanze University of Applied Sciences, Groningen (Netherlands), University of Veracruz (Mexico), Kyungpook National University (Korea) and Changwon National University (Korea). The university has cultivated more than 1,000 international students in total.
II. Introduction to Chinese Language Training Programs
The programs will focus on the intensive training of listening, speaking, reading and writing, with optional courses such as Chinese traditional music, Chinese Kung Fu, and Chinese calligraphy and painting and so on. The objective is to help learners improve their abilities of Chinese language and communication comprehensively, so as to enable them to apply Chinese in their studies, life and future careers. Certificate of completion and transcripts will be issued to students upon completion of the study. The programs implement small-class teaching with a minimum of 20 students. If the number of students does not reach the designated number, classes will not be held.
1. Study Duration
The duration is from September 2026 to July 2027, Monday to Friday (except Chinese statutory holidays)
2. Introduction to Courses
Class hours will be arranged from 16 to 20 each week, but the class schedule shall be subjected to the actual published schedule. The main courses are as follows.

3. Cultural and Sports Activities
According to personal interest, students can participate in various activities such as gala activities, Chinese language competitions, track and field competitions, football matches, campus marathons, etc.
III. Fees
1. Registration fee
The applicants should pay the registration fee of 400 CNY by bank transfer within the specified time after receiving the letter of admission. The registration fee will only be collected at the time of admission and will not be refunded in principle. The account information is as follows:

2. Tuition fee
10,000 CNY per person per academic year.
3. Accommodation fee
Double Room: 1,500 CNY per person per semester, 3,000 CNY per person per academic year.
Quadruple Room: 750 CNY per person per semester, 1,500 CNY person per academic year.
4.Insurance Fee
International students coming to China shall purchase medical insurance from insurance companies within mainland China at an approximate cost of 800 CNY per person per year. The university will not complete the registration for students who fail to purchase medical insurance that meets relevant requirements.
IV. Scholarships
According to Measures of the President Scholarship Administration for International Students of Chongqing University of Science and Technology, there are Freshmen Scholarships for Chinese Language Training Programs. First prize: 8,000 CNY per person per academic year; Second prize: 5,000 CNY per person per academic year; Third prize: 2,000 CNY per person per academic year. The category shall be depended on the assessment result of applicants’ documents and the performance after coming to CQUST.
V. Eligibility
1. Non-Chinese citizens with valid passports;
2. Aged between 18 and 30, in good physical and mental health;
3. Those who have a graduation certificate of a senior high school or above.
VI. Application Procedure
1. Online Application
Applicants shall apply online and the website is http://cqust.at0086.cn/StuApplication/Login.aspx. The application to Chinese Language Training Programs shall be completed by the applicants themselves. The online application system will be opened on April 30, 2026 and closed on June 30, 2026.
2. Application Materials
①Scanned copy of the first page of your passport
②Scanned copy of Chinese visa pages and residence permits ( if you have)
③A diploma of a senior high school or above
④Transcripts for the last academic year of the most advanced studies
⑤A certificate of non-criminal (in recent 6 months)
⑥Foreigner Physical Examination Form (in recent 6 months)
⑦A certificate of financial support (no less than 3,000 dollars)
VII. Entrance Examination
The entrance examination is in the form of an interview, which mainly examines the students’ language level, psychological quality and comprehensive ability, etc.
VIII. Admission Progress
1. Examination of qualification and materials;
2. Review of language proficiency and academic background;
3.Confirming the admission result and sending the admission materials.
Note: Please pay attention to the registration email in time, or log in to the application system to check the admission progress.
IX. Visa
Admitted students are required to apply for a Chinese study visa at the local Chinese Embassy with an admission letter and a study visa application form (JW202). Students shall come to China with the study visa and make sure that the visa is valid during their stay in China.
